Famous for its taglines (“But first, coffee” or “Tea, yes. You, maybe.”) and cute, pink aesthetic, Alfred Coffee and Tea have been the it-places for drinks and pastries. In this post, I’ll give you my personal opinion of whether Alfred Tea Room is worth the hype.
705 N. Alfred St., Los Angeles, CA 90069 (Beverly Grove), nestled on the small and swanky street known as Melrose Place. Melrose Place has a lot of high-end clothing stores with gorgeous facades.
Don’t mix up Alfred Tea Room and Alfred Coffee. They do not offer boba milk tea as the coffee locations.
The aesthetic of Alfred is its selling point. People love a cutesy catchphrase in neon lights, pink tiles, and cheesy puns, and Alfred knows it.
I’m going to go straight to the point in saying that Alfred boba was one of the WORST boba I’ve ever have. I ordered the Peppermint Honey Boba Milk Tea, which, according to the employee, was a seasonal drink that was brought back due to its popularity.
She described it as being refreshing and delicious, but I thought it tasted like toothpastey milk. You might be thinking I’m being harsh, but I really didn’t like the tea. Also, the boba itself was hard, in texture and to chew.
If you’re looking for a cute tea spot, then Alfred Tea Room might be the place for you.
But I would say you should ditch Alfred and come to the 626, where you can get really delicious boba! Alfred was a disappointment, and it was not worth the hype.
