My full name is Amelia Summer Pham, I am nineteen years old, and I’m from the suburbs of sunny Los Angeles, California.
My first name is inspired by the female aviator Amelia Earhart, and my middle name is my birthday season. The inspiration behind my first name has set the tone for what my family expects I become—an audacious, strong-willed, and revolutionary woman. My middle name further confirms my affinity to warm weather and my identity as a true California girl at heart. My family nicknamed me Aimee, which in French means “to be loved.” I think the name Aimee fits me better than Amelia does, just because Amelia is far too elegant to fit my not-so-elegant demeanor.
Both my parents are Vietnamese immigrants who come from humble beginnings, with little money, few opportunities, and almost no ability to speak English. Many of my ambitions and sentiments are inspired by my family’s journey to Americanize and fulfill the debatable “American Dream.”
Growing up in Los Angeles has, without a doubt, shaped my interests in soaking up different aspects of diverse cultures. I love exploring different parts of and happenings all over the world.
In May 2017, I completed my freshman year at NYU, studying in the Gallatin School of Individualized Study. However, I have made the decision to take this year off from school, to explore more of my opportunities and myself. In this time, I plan to spend even more time on this blog, with the intention of sharing my gap year experience.
Anyway, I hope this website provides you with a sense of me, my passions, and my thoughts.
Here’s to my blogging journey,
